The first flour mills are built in Brandywine Village, on the banks of the Brandywine River in 1735. Joseph Tatnall (miller) commits to feeding the troops during the revolutionary war.
The Swedish arrive at "the Rocks" on board the Kalmar Nyckel and the Fogel Grip at what will become Wilmington Delaware in 1638 and establish "New Sweden" which includes the area that is to become Brandywine Village.
The troops of the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route (W3R), including the 1st Rhode Island Regiment marched right past our front door (1883 Superfine lane) in 1781, fed by flour provided by Joseph Tatnall
