Original 13 Odyssey

Eric Conrad, the great-great-great-great-great-grandson of Betsy Ross, discusses his 2026 bike ride - “Original 13 Odyssey” - to state capitals and historical sites. Conrad's trip retraces parts of a route he first completed as a 20-year-old during the 1976 United States Bicentennial. He mapped his trip to coincide with the nation's 250th birthday, riding down the East Coast and stopping at significant Revolutionary War sites, state capitals, and national monuments

Revolutionary War Mass Grave Commemoration in Wilmington – DE

Brandywine Cemeterty, 701 Delaware Avenue
Wilmington, DE 19801 United States 

The burial site contains the remains of 28 identified American Patriots and 5 British officers, making it the only known Revolutionary War mass grave for which the names of those interred have been documented. Among them are 15 soldiers of the First Rhode Island Regiment who died in a Wilmington military hospital in 1782 while returning home following the victory at Yorktown.

Starting in April, the Amstel House and Dutch House will be open for guided tours on Saturday and Sundays through year-end. In 2026, both of our house museums will place special emphasis on the American Revolutionary era, and its impact on people living in New Castle during the War for Independance. Tickets are available at the New Castle Visitor Center at the Arsenal. Group tours are available on weekdays or weekends by appointment. Contact us at 302-322-2794. ​

Exhibition: A Center of the American Experience for 375 Years

Our new exhibition explores the span and impact of New Castle's history over nearly four centuries since European settlement. Located in the New Castle Visitor Center at the Arsenal, the exhibition provides a wonderful overview of New Castle's significance for community members and visitors alike. Exhibit open Thurs - Sat, 9:30 am to 4:30 pm; Sun 11:30 am to 4:30 pm. Free.

The Hagley Car Show brings together hundreds of antique and restored cars for what has been called “The Best Car Show in Delaware!”  This year’s show includes more than 500 cars from the early 1900s through the early 2000s.

This marketplace brings together talented artisans from the Mid-Atlantic area to display and sell fine arts, crafts, and gourmet items. This premier show features works in wood, leather, pottery, jewelry, fibers, metal, and other media, and includes a specialty food market.
